Swimming
The pool at Luminoso is the perfect place to relax. With outstanding views of the surrounding countryside you can while away the afternoon with a book, as you hop in and out of the pool. However, if you want to travel to the sea, the west coast is just over an hours drive and with a variety of coves and platinum sanded beaches there are plenty of different places to visit, where you can swim, walk and enjoy the sun, sand and sea.
Walking
Hundreds of acres of beautiful countryside are waiting to be discovered, providing hours of pleasure as you venture around the shores of the lake or take a packed lunch and wander further afield.
Sight Seeing
Luminoso is surrounded by delightful villages which transport you into a bygone era as you order a coffee and Pastéis de nata in one of the many cafés. Alternatively travel further a field to explore the roman city of Beja, or the World Heritage city of Evora. Marble and granite are naturally occurring products in Portugal and the areas of Estramoz and Vila Viçosa will open your eyes to marble as you have never encountered it before.
Photography
For the amateur or professional alike, the light in this part of Portugal makes the taking of photographs a real pleasure. With the vast array of flora and fauna within focal length you will hardly be able to stop yourself. There are also very good photographers in the area which offer their services such as giving courses or selling their excellent photographs!
Bird Watching
as part of a nature reserve there is a vast array of native and migratory birds around our home and the Barragem de Rocha. Many happy hours can be spent with binoculars in hand walking the shores of the lake and enjoying the inhabitants therein. There are also resident experts who can be called upon for advice and specialist knowledge.
